Over the past week, we received several comments from members who reported that FilmMetro was logging them out of the site right as tickets were being released.

This was due to the large amount of people who wanted tickets for THE DARK KNIGHT movie screenings posted on FilmMetro. The high amount of traffic caused our servers to slow down which resulted in some of the members being logged out of the site.

We are aware of the issue and have been in the process of increasing our servers to account for the traffic spikes caused by popular movies. We understand that many of our members found this issue frustrating as they were attempting to download a movie screening ticket.
We apologize for any inconvenience and are looking forward to a much faster site.

Sincerely,
Brian Meert

It has come to our attention that several counterfeit tickets were detected at the Journey to the Center of the Earth Screening in San Francisco on Monday July 7.

FilmMetro has always focused on being a community that provides a fair method for all members to download movie screening tickets. We were very disappointed to hear that some of our members who attended this screening did so by creating fake tickets after other FilmMetro members downloaded all the available tickets for the screening.

Please note that the disclaimer on each FilmMetro ticket reads "...This ticket is not for resale. It is unlawful to reproduce this ticket in any form and legal actions my be taken against offenders. Photo ID may be required for admittance."

Moving forward, ID's will now be randomly checked at FilmMetro screenings and members with invalid or duplicate tickets will be turned away and may be reported to security. In addition, members who print their ticket multiple times will also be denied entry to the screening.

We have received many comments from the FilmMetro community regarding the ticket status changing from COMING SOON to SOLD OUT without the member being able to download a ticket. These comments typically come in response to popular movie like IronMan or The Dark Knight. Here are a couple of guidelines for why this happens and how to increase your chances of actually getting a movie screening ticket.

First, The number of tickets provided for each screening will always vary. For popular movies, members should expect that the number of tickets provided will only be a limited number. This is because there is already a large amount of people looking to see the movie, so offering more screenings isn't needed as much. As a general rule of thumb, here is what FilmMetro members should expect when looking for tickets.

Blockbuster Movies = Small Amount of Tickets
Popular Movies = Medium Amount of Tickets
Small/Independent Movies = Large Amounts of Tickets

Second, when a screening is SOLD OUT, its because the speedy FilmMetro members have downloaded all the tickets. FilmMetro will provide a countdown to when the tickets will become available. Make sure you are logged in and refreshing the page as the time gets closer. When the time arrives, the site will change from COMING SOON to AVAILABLE - DOWNLOAD A PASS. Click on this link as fast as you can. This will RSVP you for the screening and allow you to print out a ticket.

Third, If you have downloaded a pass and are unable to attend, please release your ticket. Surprisingly, only 1 in 3 people who download a FilmMetro ticket will actually attend the movie screening. This means that almost 70% of the free movie screening tickets go unused. If you are unable to attend, releasing a ticket will provide other FilmMetro members the ability to check it out.

Sincerely,

After much anticipation, we are excited to announce that MovieFiller.com has been changed to FilmMetro.com.

While at first glance, it may appear that the only thing that changed was the logo, URL and movie screening ticket. This was an important business decision and will help us provide more free movie screening tickets, an improved community and several new features.

All MovieFiller account logins and passwords will still work on FilmMetro.com and all history (like Comments, Answers and My Tickets) will still be available.

We are thankful for all the members who have supported our site and we're looking forward to a bright future.

Sincerely,

Brian and Preston

PS. We've tested the new site about a bazillion times, but have found that small things can often slip through the cracks. If you find an error or a bug with the system, please let us know through our Contact Us page. Mucho Gracias.

Whoops, On July 10 around 4pm, an email was sent to several MovieFiller members with information about an Exclusive Studio Offer for TEST MOVIE in Burbank, CA on Sunday, July 15.

We were testing some new updates to the site and this email was an error generated by one of the tests. For those that received the email, there is no screening for TEST MOVIE in Burbank on July 15. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks again for using MovieFiller to learn more about free movie screenings and sending us your questions after the email was sent.

Captains Log, Stardate 6.27.07

While we haven't traveled back in time to find an ancient species, we have made some changes to Movie Filler and wanted to keep you updated.

1) The structure of the site has been changed to focus more around the movie than just the movie screening. This means all movie screenings and tickets will now be listed under the movie, not on their own. Also, all movie comments, screening locator comments and contests will be listed under the specific movie, not just in the general area.

2) We've made some updates and changes to the Menu bar to make things a little clearer and easier to navigate.

3) Added a Google Search Bar on the home page. This will allow you to search directly for a movie or a screening without having to look through the site.

4) New advertising banners have been added to the top of the site. We are proud to highlight our advertisers and ask that you support them as they are the ones that help us provide free movie screening tickets to you.

Thanks again for using our site. If you have any suggestions, please let us know by using the contact us page.
